3.2 and 3.1 Release notes
Hey Everyone
Earlier today I made another update to the build making the current version 3.2. It’s not a large build but since I haven’t done any sort of write up for 3.1 either I figured I’d make a combined post for them both.
Major Changes
- Save slot functionality. You can now have multiple save games. There’s also game options to limit the player to one save and also have permadeath as an opt in option.
- More Morse Code options. Now can also tweak how fast you can input Morse code and how precise you have to be. These have presets according to the initial selections but can be fine tuned in settings.
- Added a stat screen that can even be accessed after finishing the game. Shows things like how many doors openned, chests success and fail, highest zone etc…
- Added in a narrative intro voiced by yours truly.
- Added another dialogue reuniting with Flynn after reaching zone 4
- Added in cheats that are now accessible in all builds. To enable type enablecheats in the terminal. Once enabled can then type help to see all cheats. It will mark the save as a cheat save that may stop somethings in the future.
- Added in an effects screen that shows all active effects on the player. Can be accessed by pressing U
Minor Changes
- Music intensity changes while being chased by Steve
- Tuned difficulty so it ramps slower and is much more beginner friendly in the first few zones
- Added in a custom cursor
- Game can be resized in windowed mode.
- Many, many spelling mistake fixes
Overall the last two updates have been a lot of bug fixes and quality of life but the demo as a whole is in a much better place now. Next up I’m going to be doing something that for those that know me might sound surprising, I’m going to be making a game design document for the rest of the game.
The next couple of steps in development I really want to be careful that what I’m building will be able to support all of the various environments, enemies, bosses, skills and narrative plot points. There’s a lot of moving pieces with those so I want to make sure I’ve plotted most of these out before I do any large scale refactors. So for the next week or so I’ll be suffering through the process of writing a sort of GDD and I hope you’ll drop in to say hi in my streams while I do so.
On the side I am still coordinating with two wonderful voice actors and depending on when they can get lines in may do a smaller update with those included.
That’s it for now, thanks as always for joining me on this journey. I really appreciate everyone in this little community.
